Membership
Membership of the Scottish Justices Association is open to Justices of the Peace in Scotland. You can download a copy of the interim constitution here. (pdf file 29 kb)

To apply for membership a form should be completed and sent to the membership secretary.

Access to the Members Area is available to the members and to the court staff and others supporting the Justices of the Peace in Scotland.

In order to use the SJA members area, you need

• to register,
  
• to activate the account,
  
• to contact the web administrator to enable you to use the account (The administrator will check that you are entitled to view the site e.g. a presiding Justice or clerk).

STEP 1 - REGISTER
1. Go to www.scottishjustices.org and click on the menu item "Members Area" near the bottom of the left hand side.
2. On the next screen, click on "login"
3. A longer screen appears. In the second block below the header, click on "register".
4. Input

• Username (must be recognisable as you e.g. JOHNSMITH, JMBLACK)
• Password (keep a note - you can change it later )
  
• Email address (must be one you can check fairly quickly)
  
• and tick the box for the "digest" - you will receive an email about new documents added to the site in future.
  

STEP 2 - ACTIVATE
1. You will receive an email with an activation number e.g. 1236750208 and a link to the activation web page. Click on the link and enter your username and the activation number.
2. You will receive confirmation that you are activated on screen. You can now log in --- but you cannot see anything yet.

STEP 3 - ENABLING THE ACCOUNT
1. Send an email to webadmin@scottishjustices.org with the following information:

• The Username you have used on the site
• Your full name, court , Council and Sheriffdom
• If you are a JP or clerk etc.
• If you will require to upload information to the site (e.g. if you intend to contribute training materials, or copies of unification User group meetings etc).

2. Normally within 24 hours you will get an email confirming that you are now able to view the files and folders . You should then log in and explore what is there.
